2017 Flash Mob Workshop Tour

Come and let your imagination soar in this workshop that integrates movement, voice and theatrical convention. Through ensemble and duet explorations you will seek to expand your emotional palette and unhinge your natural movement choices into new territories. We’ve got something for everyone! Try out new moves in fun workshops open to all ages and experience levels, plus a final chance to learn the Flash Mob dance (see website for schedule and details). Serious dancers can learn all about funding, services and opportunities in the Arts Networking Hour. In the evening, enjoy a performance by local artists plus special guests Tentacle Tribe from Montreal.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday through dance with a showcase our city’s multi-cultural heritage. Catch two half hour performances featuring local artists, plus appearances by London’s Ill at Will breakdance crew and Breath in Mvmt. dance company. You’ll also have two chances to dance alongside your fellow Londoners in our annual Flash Mob (see side panel for participation details).

An exciting evening of dance works by emerging artists from London and beyond. This performance is our way of nurturing young choreographers and attracting fresh talent to our city. You’ll also see a world premiere by special guest Sharon B. Moore of Toronto. In the morning, Sharon will facilitate a workshop for emerging choreographers. Join us at the pre-show reception for refreshments (cash bar), raffle prizes, and a chance to meet the artists.

Youth Composition Workshop with Hannah Goldberg

Cost: Early bird price $120 until June 3rd, after $150. (scholarships opportunities available)
Location: Fanshawe College Centre for Digital and Performing Arts, 137 Dundas Street
Maximum 25 participants. Ages 12 & up
This workshop will uncover some of the “nuts and bolts” of composition, and will provide the participants with various tools which will aid their choreographic process. Through guided improvisational exercises and tasks, participants will actively take part in the practice of movement composition, and will gain insight into the intricate journey that unfolds during the creation of a work-in-progress, leading eventually a final product.
