We are now booking choreography workshops for schools, studios and the public with the incredible Sharon B. Moore, who will be sharing her vast knowledge of choreography and composition tools. She will also be mentoring up-and-coming local choreographers participating in the Emerging Artist performance.
Thanks to OAC funding, the cost of these workshops is partially subsidized. We can customize the content and length of the workshops to fit your students’ needs.

Choreography and Composition Tools for Dance Teachers

Dance teachers are invited to build their skills and discover new choreographic tools in this workshop with prolific choreographer Sharon B. Moore. Sharon has built a large collection of composition techniques and methods to enhance artistic breakthroughs for creative and performing artists based on her experience working with 100s of choreographers, dancers and actors across the fields of dance, theatre, film, circus and devised theatre. She will coach participating artists’ expressivity as they explore spontaneous movement creation, voice, text and narrative forms.

Dancers are invited to build their skills and discover new choreographic tools in these two workshops with prolific choreographer Sharon Moore from Toronto. Sharon will share tips and techniques for creating full-length works with youth who have at least three years dance experience. In this workshop you will identify, learn and experiment with a number of ways to approach making dances. You will experience new theatrical exercises to help your interpretive skills as an artist and the skills of your dancers. We will work in a deep way to access physical, emotional and imaginative content. You will learn how to motivate imagination within the physical body. You will try out what you learn and how that applies to your dance making. The workshop is intended to help you bring your unique ideas to the forefront of your creation process.
About Sharon
Sharon Moore is a Canadian dancer, choreographer, movement coach/designer, teacher and multi-disciplinary creator working within the fields of dance, theatre, film and circus specializing in original theatrical movement works. With over 25 years of experience as a movement specialist she has helped train a myriad of artists including dancers, actors and circus artists and has originated a substantial body of work as a choreographer and creator with over 100 works in her repertoire .
Sharon has taught choreography, creation, composition, improvisation and creative process to choreographers and actors at Princeton University, the University of Calgary and is the Head of Movement at the Humber College Theatre Performance Program. She has worked with Susan Marshall and Co. in New York City, The Yard on Martha’s Vineyard, Since Dance in Montreal and Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers.
Currently Sharon is the lead of movement at the Humber Theatre Performance program. Her most recent full-evening work, The Mystery of Mr. Leftovers, received 4 Dora Award nominations and won in the category of outstanding female performances. Learn more at www.SharonMoore.org.
