Calling All Dance Artists!

The London Dance Festival is inviting all dance artists, whether amateur, emerging or established to participate and perform in the 2018 festival. The festival will take place in various locations in downtown London from June 29 to July 1. Learn more about the festival at londondancefestival.ca

This year the London Dance Festival is seeking a variety of submissions from performers, choreographers and workshop facilitators.  Preference is given to London and area artists, but we welcome submissions from across Canada and around the globe. Movement and music content must be appropriate for a family audience. DEADLINE: May 5, 2018

Artists may apply for all opportunities for which they are eligible. To apply for any of the opportunities below, complete the online submission form available at https://goo.gl/forms/ApKXHzB7cVJyow9J2 include the following:

  1. Applicant biography and performance history (max 200 words).
  2. Description of proposed dance piece or workshop (max 150 words).
  3. Two to five high resolution photos of the work, artists, company, choreographer and/or teacher, to be used for promotion of festival events (will only be used if selected). Please include photographer and artist credits.
  4. Web link to performance or rehearsal footage for performers/choreographers, or teaching footage for workshop facilitators. (Please ensure web links are active and working). If video of the proposed piece/workshop is not available then similar work should be submitted.

2018 Summer Submission Details:

  • Emerging Artist Performers: Eldon House, Friday, June 29
    Dances of 3 to 15 minutes by emerging artists in all styles. Choreographers and performers ages 16 and up are welcome to apply. From all submissions we will select approximately 8 pieces. Selected choreographers will have opportunities for professional coaching in staging their piece, and artists will receive a performance fee. Performances will take place on the back lawn of Eldon House, outdoors on grass in the early evening with professional sound. Tech/dress rehearsals will happen earlier the same day. This will be a ticketed event.
  • Community Showcase Performers: Ivey Park, Saturday June 30
    Dances of approximately 2 to 6 minutes, in any style. Choreographers ages 13 and up are welcome to apply with dancers of all ages. From all submissions we will select approximately 12 pieces. Choreographers will receive an honorarium. Performances will take place outdoors on grass or concrete surfaces. Please specify your surface preference, if any, in your application. Tech/dress rehearsals will happen earlier the same day.

  • Spotlight Series Performers: Various festival locations, June 29 to July 1
    Dances of 10 to 30 minutes by established companies, in any style. From all submissions we will select up to 4 pieces. Artists will receive a performance fee. The Spotlight performances will be paired with other festival events, and may be indoors or outdoors on grass or concrete surfaces. Please specify your venue and surface preference, if any, in your application.

  • Dance & Movement Workshop Facilitators: Various locations, June 29 to July 1
    Workshops of 45-60 minutes in any dance or movement style will be open to public participation. Facilitators must have at least three years teaching experience. We will select approximately 8 facilitators from all submissions. Facilitators will receive a teaching fee. Workshops will be outdoors on grass or concrete surfaces, or indoors at various location. Please specify your venue and surface preference, if any, in your application.
